Abstract (en)
The safety wall is made up of panels which have inner cavities filled with a cold fire-extinguishing liquid under pressure and fitted with nozzles (15) which open automatically at high temperature to spray jets of the liquid over vehicles, engines or equipment passing through the tunnel. Each of the panels is made from two metal sheets welded together with the cavities formed between them and shaped to withstand the pressure of the liquid inside, while the nozzles are fitted to holes in one sheet of each panel. The panels are mounted on the inside of an underground structure such as the concrete shell of a tunnel.

Les parois latérales du tunnel représenté sont constituées chacune par des panneaux adjacents (10) présentant chacun un espace (13) rempli d'eau froide sous pression, par des buses anti-incendie (15) intégrées à ces panneaux, et par des conduites d'alimentation (14) des espaces (13), reliées à un réseau fermé (Ringleitung) d'eau froide sous pression. Lorsque la température atteint une valeur anormalement élevée dans une zone du tunnel, les buses (15) concernées s'ouvrent automatiquement et projettent des jets continus sur les véhicules, engins, appareils qui s'y trouvent. <IMAGE>
