Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1072782A2] The piston(1) has lands(7) emanating from the piston pin bore(4) and formed on the outer face of the pistons. The lands extend in the direction of the piston ring zone(3) and/or in the direction of the piston skirt end furthest from the piston ring zone. The lands form a piston pin recess(9). An outer boss(5) is located at least partially around the piston pin bore and together with the lands and lower edge(8) of the piston ring zone form the recess.
