Abstract (en)

[origin: US2001025853A1] The invention relates to an above-ground storage tank with a leakage protection lining for storing media posing a hazard to water, and to a process for equipping and particularly refitting an existing above-ground storage tank with a lining protecting it against leakage. Based on the drawbacks of the known prior art, the problem of the invention is to provide an above-ground storage tank with a leakage protection lining that can be produced and installed in a simple way; which can be mounted permanently medium- and vacuum-tight on the walls of the tank; and which satisfies the requirements with respect to testing for leakage. Furthermore, the goal is to provide a suitable process particularly for refitting existing above-ground storage tanks with a leakage protection lining. It is proposed as a solution that the medium-resistant foil (4) made of plastic almost completely covers the tank bottom (1) or extends up into the lower zone of the inner side (2') of the tank wall (2), and that it is secured all around on the outer limitation of the tank bottom (1) or with a small spacing from the tank bottom (1) on the inner side (2') by means of a clamping device (5), and that the insert (3) covers the existing tank bottom (1) and extends maximally up to the clamping device (5).
