The connecting valve (16) connected at the input side boring (49) to the compression side of the low pressure pump, and at the output side boring (47) to the camshaft cavity of the high pressure pump and also to the induction side of the low pressure pump. A spring-loaded valve piston (34) under the first pressure surge opens a connection between the low pressure pump and the camshaft cavity, and under the higher second pressure surge, opens one between the compression side and induction side of the low pressure pump.
