The method involves performing individual measurements on lengths of material (B1,2) for the cut positions of the lengths before combining them and deriving the cut positions for the lengths from their individual length measurements and from the common measurement value for the lengths in the combined length (H1). The combined length can be combined with another combined length and cut positions derived as above. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for determining cut positions for sheet material in a rotation printer.

Verfahren zur Bestimmung von Schnittlagen von Bahnsträngen (B1, B2), die in einer Rotationsdruckmaschine zu einem Heftstrang (H1) zusammengeführt und quergeschnitten werden, wobei ein Messwert für die Schnittlage der Bahnstränge (B1, B2) in dem Heftstrang (H1) aufgenommen und je ein Einzelstrangmesswert für die Schnittlagen der Bahnstränge (B1, B2) vor dem Zusammenführen für jeden der Bahnstränge (Bl, B2) aufgenommen wird. Die Schnittlagen der Bahnstränge (B1, B2) werden bestimmt aus den Einzelstrangmesswerten und dem für die Bahnstränge (B1, B2) des Heftstrangs (H1) in dem Heftstrang (H1) aufgenommenen gemeinsamen Messwert. <IMAGE>
