The air pump has a mounting plate (1) to which the housing (10) of an electric motor and a pump are attached and a sound damper (14) formed by the mounting plate and a sound damping cap (8) attached to it. The sound damping cap encloses the pump and is arranged on the side of the mounting plate remote from the motor.

Bei einer elektrischen Luftpumpe für Kraftfahrzeuge mit einer Montageplatte, an der das Gehäuse eines Elektromotors und eine Pumpe befestigt sind, und mit einem Schalldämpfer, der durch die Montageplatte und eine daran befestigte Schalldämpferkappe gebildet ist, umfaßt die Schalldämpferkappe zur Vereinfachung des Aufbaus und zur Verringerung des Bauvolumens die Pumpe. Die Schalldämpferkappe ist dabei auf der vom Elektromotor abgewandten Seite der Montageplatte angeordnet. <IMAGE>
