[origin: WO0053401A1] The invention concerns a mould comprising a first part (10) with a concave moulding section (11) and a top section (12), a second part (20) with a convex moulding section (21) and a top section (22) and a third part (30), said third part (30) being arranged between the top sections (12, 22) of the first and second sections (20, 21) defining with the second part (20) a discharge and retention volume (41, 42) for the excess moulding composition and so designed that the excess moulding composition is forced solely into the discharge and retention volume, and when the mould is disassembled, said third part (30) is removed integrally with the second part (20), together with the excess moulding composition. The invention is useful for making contact lenses and intraocular implants.
