[origin: DE19819085A1] The invention relates to a watertight, water vapor-permeable flat material (10), especially for a lower bracing strip of a sloping roof comprising at least one film (12) which is provided with micropores (14, 16, 18, 20). The aim of the invention is to provide a flat material which is mechanically stable and which exhibits a high water vapor permeability, but is, however, also tight against low-surface-tension water, for example, water mixed with detergents. To this end, the invention provides that the film (12) is open-pored, that the thickness of the film (12) is less than 100 mu m, and that a watertight membrane (22) which covers the micropores is provided in at least the area of the micropores (14, 16, 18, 20). Water vapor can diffuse through said membrane. In addition, the invention provides that the thickness of the membrane (22) is less than 50 mu m.
