Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9957404A1] The double-glazed panel comprises an outer glass plate (14) and an inner glass plate (12) connected together by means of an adhesive cement, such as a silicone (16), and separated by a gap which is kept substantially devoid of humidity by means of a hygroscopic material contained in a beading (18) between the glass plates. According to the invention, in a layer of structural silicone (26) provided in a peripheral area between the two glass plates a mechanical retaining means (20) is embedded, having glass or generally glazed surfaces exposed to the silicone. The retaining means (20) comprises a metal section bar (21) which extends longitudinally along a corresponding side of the glazing panel and provided with known fastening means, such as screws or other means, and a glass rod (22) or the like accommodated in the section bar. The retaining means (20) is connected during erection in situ to a section of a supporting framework.
