Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1075963A2] In a thermal transfer foil with a donor layer on a substrate layer, the substrate comprises polymer(s) with mechanical stability at over 150 degrees C and/or over 70% transmission for light of wavelength 700-1600 nm; and the donor layer comprises a substance (I) converting laser light energy into thermal energy, a polymer with acid and/or (substituted) amide groups and optionally a wetting aid. Independent claims are also included for: (a) the production of this thermal transfer foil or tape; (b) compositions comprising component (b); (c) printing plates imaged by laser-induced transfer with composition (b).
