Abstract (en)

The injection system includes a pre-feed pump (1) for supplying fuel from a fuel tank (2). A high pressure pump (3) arranged downstream of the feed pump produces the required injection pressure for injecting the fuel into the combustion chamber of the engine. Between the pre-feed pump and the high pressure pump, a volume flow regulator valve (14) controls the flow of fuel fed to the high pressure pump. The regulator valve is controlled between an open setting and an at least partially closed setting. The volume flow regulator valve is designed in conjunction with the pre-feed pump, so that the fuel flow through the valve when in its open position is equal to the maximum fuel demand of the injection system.

Einspritzanlage für eine Brennkraftmaschine, mit einer Vorförderpumpe (1) zur Förderung von Kraftstoff aus einem Kraftstofftank (2), einer der Vorförderpumpe (1) stromabwärts nachgeordneten Hochdruckpumpe (3) zur Erzeugung des für Einspritzung des Kraftstoff in einen Brennraum der Brennkraftmaschine erforderlichen Einspritzdrucks, einem zwischen der Vorförderpumpe (1) und der Hochdruckpumpe (3) angeordneten Volumenstromregelventil (14) zur Steuerung des der Hochdruckpumpe (3) zugeführten Kraftstoffstroms, wobei das Volumenstromregelventil (14) zwischen einer geöffneten Stellung und einer mindestens teilweise geschlossenen Stellung steuerbar und in Verbindung mit der Vorförderpumpe (1) so ausgelegt ist, daß der Kraftstoffstrom durch das Volumenstromregelventil (14) in der geöffneten Stellung des Volumenstromregelventils (14) im wesentlichen gleich dem maximalen Kraftstoffbedarf der Einspritzanlage ist, um eine überschüssige Kraftstoffzuführung zu der Hochdruckpumpe (3) zu vermeiden. <IMAGE>
