Abstract (en)
[origin: FR2778721A1] The jaws (4) are connected to the annular body (3) by at least two connecting rods (5) which form an articulated parallelogram. The supports also carry long connecting rods (14) on the base and outside the jaws in the axial direction, so the axial movement of the annular body relative to the base (2) produces a synchronized radial movement of the jaw assembly. A rigid annular base (2) supports a coaxial annular assembly of jaws (4) parallel to the axis of the rings and which can be moved in diametral planes. The supports form part of a rigid annular body (3) enclosing the jaw assembly and can be moved axially by controlled jacks (6) which connect the body to the base. Each jaw is made of a principal beam (23) and an adapting beam (12) mounted on the principal beam at a distance which can be controlled between two positions. The adapting beams are chosen from several sizes. The base and body have an opening sector for lateral passage of a pipe or inspection.
