The device has an inlet (5), an accepted material outlet (6), and a rejected material outlet (7). The inlet for feeding the material is provided on a separate covering part (8) situated on the upper side of the main housing. Said inlet is provided such that the material is fed essentially at an angle of inclination relative to the horizontal lines and with combined tangential and axial components in the vicinity of the covering part. The angle of inclination relative to the horizontal lines can range, for example, from 5 DEG to 85 DEG . In addition, the device for sorting a suspension containing fibrous material can be configured in such a way that the wall of the main housing is constructed in an at least partially conical manner in the direction of the accepted material outlet and, as a result, a correspondingly enlarged sorting chamber is formed in the direction of the accepted material outlet.
