[origin: WO9960365A1] The invention relates to a method for testing the shock absorbers of a motor vehicle. A wheel of the vehicle is caused to vibrate using an exciter unit, with a first high excitation frequency and the resonance frequencies occurring in the frequency range below the excitation frequency are detected. During the vibration with resonance frequency, the dynamic vertical force of the wheel is detected and set in relation to the static vertical force. In order to ensure that the measured values are determined accurately, the resonance frequency(ies) are determined in a first measuring sequence and are then generated specifically by a controlled drive mechanism of the exciter unit over a predetermined or predeterminable unit of time.
