[origin: DE19820611C1] The circuit includes an input (9) connected with a first comparator (1) and a second comparator (2). A first threshold value is supplied to an input of the first comparator, and a second threshold value to a corresponding input (18) of the second comparator. A shunt resistance (7) is connected with the input, and is switched in or out of the circuit in response to a switching signal (10). A switching unit (5) controlled by the switching signal, includes at least two inputs which are supplied, on one hand, with the output signal of the first comparator, and, on the other hand, with the output signal of the second comparator. The switching unit provides an output signal (20) in dependence on the switching signal, which reflects either the signal at the first or at the second input.
