Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0958884A1] A laser beam (5) is guided parallel to and into the principal axis (L), or is guided directly within a machine tool axis; at least one laser machining head (K) is mechanically displaceable into the axis of a spindle so either the head (K) or a cutting tool is inserted into tool holder(s) is used without alteration or replacement of the workpiece mounting. A parking position (P) is foreseen within the machine tool (13) for the laser machining head and some of the beam guide tubes (12). The laser machining head is designed so its optical axis (X-X) is rigid and is oriented coaxially with the principal axis (L) of the machine tool. The laser beam is introduced into this head either coaxially or from a side.
