[origin: WO0060261A1] The invention relates to an electromagnetic drive that contains an electromagnet (21). Said electromagnet has a core (22) that can be magnetized and has several limbs (23, 24). The electromagnet is further provided with a coil arrangement (35) that can be supplied with current and that surrounds at least one limb (23 or 24) of the core (22). The drive is further provided with a magnetizable anchor (15) that is displaced relative to the core (22) by changing the coil current. The core (22) has at least one U-shaped device and is substantially configured by a plurality of metal sheet elements that contact one another transversely to the direction of the parallel limbs (23, 24). Said parallel limbs (23, 24) are surrounded by a respective coil (33, 34) of the coil arrangement (35).
