[origin: FR2779336A1] The invention concerns an electrical cooking appliance comprising, in a housing (1), a metal bowl (2) provided externally on its base with a heating element (5). The invention is characterised in that the appliance comprises a bimetal switch (11) in direct thermal contact with the heating element (5), and mobile in response to an excess of heat produced by the heating element (5) and corresponding to a substantially empty bowl (2), to take up an active position wherein it controls the heating element (5) power supply circuit opening. The invention is applicable to electric deep fryers.
