Abstract (en)
In a process of replenishing the concentration of a metal cation in an electrolyte solution in an electroplating process, the electrolyte is circulated from a working bath (2) to an enrichment bath in an enrichment cell (11) in which metal anodes (1a; 1b) are dissolved to increase the concentration of metal cations; metal deposition at the cathode of the enrichment cell is reduced or substantially avoided by carrying out cathodic reduction reactions that produce or consume a gas, and without using ion chemical separation means located between anode and cathode (1a,3a; 1b,3b) of the enrichment cell. <IMAGE>
