[origin: WO0000191A1] It is described that flavonoids can be used to produce pharmaceutical preparations for protection of specific groups of living cells against cell death occurring spontaneously, under pathological conditions or as the result of a toxic insult. It is demonstrated that certain flavonoids protect groups of neuronal and liver cells during toxic insults produced by okadaic acid.
