[origin: WO9966055A2] Yield loss due to pathogenic, e.g., geminiviral or nematode, infection is a major problem in the cultivation of plants or, in particular, crops as such. Environmental concerns restrict the use of toxic compounds to combat said infectious agents. The current invention is generally directed to plant pathogen inducible control sequences such as promoters which are operably linked to cell cycle genes and which are - in combination - capable of modifying the cell cycle or cell division of a plant cell.
