[origin: WO9966651A1] The invention relates to a method and device for transmitting information using varying carrier frequencies by means of a frequency hopping method. A random sequence produces a number of N possible carrier frequency values fx in addresses 1 to N of said table (25). The N possible carrier frequencies are subdivided into n subgroups. At least one part M of the N possible carrier frequency values fx of the table (25) is periodically and repeatedly read. In each subgroup, the carrier frequency values fx are extracted sequentially from the corresponding addresses and the subgroups are extracted in a predetermined chronological order, whereby M</=N. Information is then transmitted at carrier frequencies which correspond to the extracted carrier frequencies. The invention method and device can be used, for instance, in a mobile station and/or a base station of a mobile radio system.
