A random sequence of a number of N possible carrier frequencies fx is generated in addresses 1-N of a table (25) in a device (20). At least one part M of the N carrier frequency values fx is read sequentially from the corresponding addresses of the table, whereby said operation is periodically repeated and M</=N. Subsequently, information is transmitted in a device (4) at the corresponding carrier frequencies. The method and device can, for instance, be used in a mobile station or base station belonging to a mobile radio telephone system.
