[origin: DE19913442A1] The invention relates to a method for coating a substrate by applying a varnish coating onto a pre-coated substrate or a monolayer coating lacquer onto an optionally pre-coated substrate and then curing it. Said substrate is the body of a motor vehicle or parts thereof. According to the inventive method, the substrate is optionally subjected to an air ventilation phase after application of the varnish coating or the monolayer coating lacquer and is then cured by NIR radiation in the wavelength range of 760 to 1500 nm.
