[origin: WO9961220A1] A method and apparatus for increasing the crystallization rate of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) articles. Moisture is introduced into the amorphous material to be crystallized by passing the articles through a humidified hopper installed in a processing line after molding and before crystallizing. The hopper provides temperature and humidity control, and is sized to result in a residence time sufficient to impart a predetermined moisture content to surface portions of articles passing therethrough.
