[origin: EP0967777A2] The method involves providing an interface between the application level and the physical transmission. Information are transmitted between subscribers and the allocated local exchange via an access network. Control data are fed to the interface by evaluation of protocols allowing xDSL path to be reconfigured. Preferably, the interface is arranged in the local exchange and the control data are taken from the signalling. The control data may be taken from RM cells of the ABR traffic or the Internet protocol.
