A treatment device comprises a treatment chamber (2) having a treatment roller (5) and two deviating rollers (7, 8) to deviate the material strip to partially twist round the treatment roller. The treatment roller is completely arranged within the treatment chamber and the deviating rollers protrude with its casing surface into the treatment chamber and lie against the sealing surfaces (15, 16). Preferred Features: The deviating rollers can move radially to the treatment roller using a pneumatic cylinder (17, 18).
