[origin: WO0001435A1] A powder inhalator (1) comprises a space (3) for storage of a dose of a pulverous agent and a passage (7) extending from the space (3) to an outlet (8), a valve assembly (4, 5, 6, 10) disposed at least partially in the passage (7) to keep the passage (7) closed except if a dose of the agent is intended to be carried out through the passage (7). The valve assembly (4, 5, 6, 10) opens when a predetermined negative pressure is generated in the portion of the passage (7) extending from the valve assembly to the outlet (8) by the inhalation of a patient. Also disclosed is a corresponding method of administration of a pulverous agent to the lungs of a patient.
