Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1093914A2] A device for removing sleeves from print rollers with a minimum risk of damage has radially acting grips (22, 24) to secure onto the sleeve and with grip handles to enable the operator to pull the sleeve axially off the roller. One version has sprung bands (22, 24) linked by simple twist action tensioners (26, 28) operated by grip handles (37, 39, 47, 49). The operator opens access flaps on one side of the printing press, to expose the ends of the rollers and inserts the device to clamp onto a sleeve and drag it off the roller, while compressed air is applied into the roller. The sprung bands have grip pads on the inside faces to enhance the grip onto the sleeve.
