Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0002504A1] The invention relates to a femur component for a hip endoprosthesis which comprises A) a distal end designed to be introduced into the medullary space of the femur (1); B) a proximal shoulder part (2) with a medially oriented neck (3) to which a spherical head can be attached; C) a shank part (4), situated between the shoulder part (2) and the end (1), which narrows wedge-like towards the end (1), has a longitudinal axis (5), a length L and a half wedge angle beta /2 measured in the symmetry plane (10) of the femur component; and D) a slit (6) arranged in the distal region (8) of the shank part (4) which is open towards the end (1). The slit (6) has a length between 0.21 L and 0.50 L and an opening angle alpha of between 1 DEG and 4 DEG . The fact that the femur component is fixed in the medullary space by means of the slit (6) has the advantage that possible microscopic tilting movements of the shank implanted in the medullary cavity remain minimal and the desired primary stabilization is achieved.
