Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1096113A2] The engine operating method responds to a detected function failure of the electromagnetic operating drive (7.1,7.2) for the gas changing valve of one of the engine cylinders (1), indicated by the electronic engine control, for supplying the electromagnets (8,9) of the failed gas changing valve with a current for bringing the valve armature (10) into a given end position, with control of the electromagnetic operating drive for movement from this end position for restoring the cylinder operating cycle. The fuel feed to the corresponding engine cylinder can be interrupted during the detected function failure.
