A male contact (100) which has a base section (20) and an contact section (10) that engages with a female contact, and which is formed by the bending of a single metal plate. The contact section (10) is formed by two plate members (11, 12) extending separately from the base section (20) each being superimposed and joined together at bends in the base section (20).
