[origin: EP1098348A2] The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a colour cathode-ray tube, in which a graphite coating (22) of variable thickness is interposed between the glass faceplate (2) of the tube and the phosphors (25, 26, 27) intended to reproduce a colour image. The purpose of the coating (22) is to reduce the transmission of the glass, of which the faceplate is composed, to a defined value. <IMAGE>
