[origin: WO0005475A1] A profiled spacer for the spacer frame of an insulating glass unit, whereby said profiled spacer is placed on the edge area of at least two interspaced sheets of glass and a gap is formed between both sheets. The body of the profiled spacer is made from a low heat-conductive material and is joined to a diffusion-tight layer that extends substantially along the entire length thereof. The invention is characterized in that the diffusion-tight layer has at least one area that extends in a longitudinal direction of the profiled spacer, whereby said area exhibits low thermal conductivity perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the profiled spacer.
