[origin: WO0007519A1] The present invention relates to a device for inseminating animals, mainly sows. This device includes a catheter (1) for forwarding the sperm which is introduced in the vagina. The catheter comprises a bead (2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4) in the area of the end to be introduced (1.1), as well as an essentially sleeve-shaped hollow body (6; 16) to be introduced at the start of the vagina and through which the bead and the catheter can be pushed into the vagina. In order to prevent sperm reflux in a simple manner, the bead (2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4) is made of cellular foam or the like. Before being introduced into the organic cavity, the bead can be compressed on a cross section which is smaller than the lumen of the organic cavity. The bead further expands, after an expansion time as it reaches the end position corresponding to the uterus of the animal, until the animal's organic cavity is occluded by a soft retractable plug (20).
