[origin: DE19835809A1] The invention relates to a combined mouse (1) for detecting movement and reading information. Said mouse comprises a motion detector (2) that detects its position in relation to its surface (4) continuously or at predetermined intervals when a movement is carried out and converts it into an electronic signal containing information regarding said movement. The combined mouse also comprises a computer unit (16) converting the electronic signals of the motion detector (2) into position indications in a two-dimensional and/or three-dimensional visual system, approximately in the position of a cursor on a screen, in addition to an optical unit (3) that detects the surfaces containing visual information such as alphanumeric characters, graphic characters or photographic images marked by the reflected light of a radiation source (27) and displays said information on an image sensor (22) that transforms the light into a sequence of electronic signals and supplies said light to a signal processing unit (31) for electronic processing. The signals generated by the motion detector (2) can be used to synchronize the image information detected by the image sensor (3).
