The moving up process moves a printing plate (60) onto the platen cylinder of a rotary printing press. The first edge (62) of the printing plate is straightened up relative to a cylinder (3) adjacent to the platen cylinder (2). The first edge of the plate is then inserted into a gap (7) formed in the platen cylinder. The plate is then pulled onto the platen cylinder.
