Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0003110A3] The invention relates to a doorstop for a motor vehicle, comprising a pin (2) forming a rigid door retaining element, a nut (5) assigned to the pin (2) and a braking and locking device assigned to the nut (5). The braking and locking device assigned to the nut (5) is embodied by a longitudinal section of a braking member which can be subjected to the action of a drive element embodied by a brake lever (7), whereby said longitudinal section is situated on the external circumference of the pin (5) which is rotationally driven in accordance with the pivoting movement of the door. A lock shifting eccentric (8) which is held in the interlocking direction by a spring load (10, 11) and can be released depending on the movement of a door is assigned to the brake lever (7) as a release device in such a way that when the door is not moving the brake lever (7) is held by the action of the spring in its position corresponding to the actuated brake or is moved into said position. The invention aims to provide a doorstop which, in a more compact embodiment, reacts to the movement situation of the door by producing a sufficient braking and retaining force which is independent of an electrical system. To this end the rotationally mounted nut (5) is housed in a housing positioned at the level of one of the door assembly parts and a mechanical device is provided for which from the movement of the door derives the displacement movement for the lock shifting eccentric (8) which moves the brake lever (7) against the spring load into the position corresponding to the released brake.
