The method involves storing electrical energy in a magnetic field built up by a primary current, whereby the field breaks down when the primary current is interrupted and a high ignition voltage is generated by induction. A control signal gives the desired value for the primary current and the primary current is limited to this value by a current regulator. Independent claims are also included for the following: an arrangement for current regulation of an ignition system for an internal combustion engine.

Es wird ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zur Stromregelung einer Zündanlage für einen Verbrennungsmotor beschrieben. Bei dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren erfolgt statt einer zeitlichen Steuerung des Primärstromes eine Regelung des Primärstromes. Ein Steuersignal (1) gibt hierbei den Sollwert des gewünschten Primärstroms wieder. Das Steuersignal ist vorzugsweise pulsweitenmoduliert, wobei das Tastverhältnis den gewünschten Sollwert des Primärstromes und die Dauer des Steuersignales die gewünschte Ladezeit angibt. Bei der erfindungsgemäßen Vorrichtung ist neben einem Zündtransistor (Z) ein Ladetransistor (L) zur Regelung des Primärstroms vorgesehen. <IMAGE>
