Lighting systems for rooms as based on natural source of light are subject to considerable light loss during propagation by reflection of the light over long optical paths, and measures have been taken to avoid this loss by, as it were, 'locking' the coupled sunlight into the optical waveguide for use in room lighting by 'tapping' the light off at selected required points for adapter types elements. To improve decoupling of the light, light-propagation in the optical waveguide results from total reflection and the decoupling device e.g. for radiating the light in to the room, is adaptively arranged externally on the light-guide, and the total reflection of the light is cancelled at this point of the waveguide (5).

Ein Beleuchtungssystem für Räume 1 weist einen Lichtleiter 5 innerhalb dieses Raumes 1 auf. Er besitzt im Bereich der Gebäudefassade 2 oberhalb der Fenster 3 eine Einkoppeleinrichtung 6 insbesondere in Form einer Zylinderlinse, mittels der Sonnenlicht 9 in den Lichtleiter 5 eingespeist wird. Auf der Oberfläche des Lichtleiters 5 sind adaptiv Auskoppeleinrichtungen 7 angeordnet, welche an dieser Stelle des Lichtleiters 5 die Totalreflexion aufheben und das Licht 9' in den Raum abstrahlen. In den Auskoppeleinrichtungen 7 sind zusätzliche Lampen 8 für eine zusätzliche Kunstlichtbeleuchtung integriert. Dadurch ist ein kombiniertes Tageslicht-Kunstlicht-System mit dezentraler Kunstlichteinspeisung geschaffen. <IMAGE>
