[origin: WO0010899A1] The invention relates to a method and device for forming folds (13, 24) on specimens (20) which are separated from a material strip (1) with several possible layers. Two cutting or perforating and cutting units (14, 16) are placed one after the other in the direction (8) of displacement of said strip. The material strip (1) is cut by means of a cutting unit (14) associated with the first longitudinal fold (13) in this area of the unit. Another perforating/cutting unit (16) perforates or cuts the material strip (1) in the area of a longitudinal fold (24), whereby bridges of said material are produced. At least one of the cutting or perforating tools (34, 38) can be adjusted in relation to the material strip (1).
