Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1106357A1] Ink droplets are charged electrically by passage between two electrodes. Each of a set or salvo of ink droplets forced by pressure from the print head is aligned effectively parallel to the direction of advancement of the print media. In addition to the normal applied voltage a small random voltage is applied to each of the droplets which is less than one times the nominal voltage difference between successive drops. An Independent claim is made for an inkjet printer in which a small random voltage can be applied to successive ink drops in an ink salvo originating from the print head.
