Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1106734A2] There is a magazine and laying mechanism (37) for sleepers or cross-ties immediately behind the endless tracks (8,10). The sleepers or cross-ties are dropped at regular intervals onto the ballast, ready for the laying of the rails. The rails are laid on the sleepers and fastened to them, and the rear end of the machine is supported on a rail bogie with flanged wheels. The ballast may be supplied in containers (24) which may be brought forward so that the ballast may be tipped into a hopper (13).
