Abstract (en)
[origin: WO0011406A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for cleaning waste gases by thermal afterburning, especially waste gases containing pollutants from scrap metal melting facilities, wherein a mixing chamber housing (2) is provided in which the waste gas to be burned can be introduced through at least one inlet coupling (3). A combustion medium and/or combustion air can be introduced into the mixing chamber housing (2) with a combustion medium feed unit (10) by generating a mixture of waste gas, combustion medium and/or combustion air. A reaction chamber housing (1) is disposed downstream from the mixing chamber housing (2) in the direction of flow of the waste gases. A burner unit (16) is also provided in the direction of flow of the waste gases in the back part of the mixing chamber housing (2), which serves to supply thermal energy to the mixture. This embodiment enables thorough mixing of the waste gases, the medium and/or the combustion air before thermal energy for thermal dissociation of the waste gases is supplied so that the reaction chamber housing (2) is optimally designed for stable combustion from the point of view of flow technology.
