Abstract (en)
Device for cooling a metallic cast strand in a cooling zone next to the casting mold comprises cooling elements (3a-3c) which convey coolant between rollers (2a-2c), the cooling element extending along the longitudinal axis of the rollers. Gaps (4a, 4b, 5) are produced between each cooling element and the rollers and the cooling elements and the strand. Each cooling element is provided with a channel (6) for conveying coolant which opens out into a gap. The channel is used to cool the surface of the strand and the rollers. Preferred Features: The channel conveying coolant penetrates the cooling element and opens out into a gap between the cooling elements and the strand.

Es wird eine Vorrichtung zum Kühlen eines metallischen Gußstranges in einer der Gießform nachgeordneten Kühlzone, in der der Strang mittels Rollenpaaren, die quer zur Strangachse entlang der Strangabzugsrichtung übereinander angeordnet sind, stützend geführt wird und durch das Aufbringen von Kühlmittel weiter abgekühlt wird, vorgeschlagen, die mindestens ein zwischen jeweils zwei übereinander liegenden Rollen (2a,2b,2c,2d) angeordnetes kühlmittelförderndes Kühlelement (3a, 3b, 3c) umfaßt, das sich entlang der Längsachse der Rollen erstreckt, und das so gestaltet ist, daß zwischen dem jeweiligen Kühlelement und den Rollen sowie dem Kühlelement und dem Strang Spalträume (4a, 4b, 5) entstehen und daß das jeweilige Kühlelement mit mindestens einem kühlmittelfördernden, in einen Spaltraum mündenden, Kanal (6a bis 6e) versehen ist zur Strömungskühlung von Strangoberfläche und Rollen. <IMAGE>
