Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1108950A1] The reflector molding (10) has a circular central aperture (11), admitting the lamp cap (40), and surrounded on the reverse side by a peripheral rebate (12). This is encircled by another, flat, annular surface, and the molding's reverse side then falls into a deep annular groove (14). A retaining ring (20) or rigid plastic has a deep outer skirt (22) holding it in the groove. A circular clip (30), of spring steel or resilient plastic, is trapped between the reflector molding's flat annular top surface and the inner, annular, surface of the ring. In turn, the projecting flats (41) on the lamp cap can engage between the circular clip (30) and the rebate (12). Diametrically opposed pegs fixed on the outer rim of the clip pass through guide slots in the trapping surface of the ring. The clip is circular when unstressed, allowing the lamp cap to be removed, but such is the slot orientation that, when the clip is rotated by finger pressure on the pegs, both pegs slide along the slots at a decreasing radial distance from the aperture's axis, and the inward forces exerted bring the opposite sides of the clip inwards. The clip assumes an elliptical shape, effectively preventing the lamp cap from moving in an axial direction.
