[origin: US6546862B1] Multicolor prints are produced on a sheet in a printing machine. More than four colors can be applied to the sheet during its passage through the printing machine. Three printing units and an application unit are associated either directly with a printing cylinder of the printing machine or with a transfer drum which is associated with the printing cylinder. Seven colors, or six colors and a varnish coating can be applied to the sheet by the printing machine.
