[origin: EP1110637A2] A component is formed from two or more metal tubes of different cross sections and/or materials. The cross section of at least one tube end section is altered, so that section end faces fit with each other, and the profiles of the end sections conform mainly to a final shape. The end faces of both tubes are welded together to create a tubular semi-finished component (8). This is subsequently formed at least partially in an internal pressure forming process.
