Abstract (en)
The method is for producing books, booklets or similar from a bound book block and involves a cover (1) bent around the rear edges of the book block with legs (13) bent to locate on the side surfaces of the book block. In the cover, edges are formed parallel to the rear edges of the book block with a bending angle of approximately 90 degrees. The cover in the area of the edges is softened for bending purposes by the controlled feed of a fluid. The fluid is applied in strips on the inside and/or outside (9) of the cover. Residual tensions in the cover in the area of its edges are effectively reduced.

Beim Verfahren zum Herstellen von aus einem gebundenen Buchblock (2) gebildeten Büchern, Broschuren (4) oder dgl. wird ein Umschlag (1) um die Rückenkanten (3) eines Buchblocks (2) gebogen und die Umschlagschenkel (13) bis zur Anlage an die Seitenflächen (5) des Buchblocks (3) umgebogen. Im Umschlag (1) bilden sich parallel zu den Rückenkanten (3) des Buchblockes (2) Umschlagkanten (6) mit einem Biegewinkel von etwa 90°. Der Umschlag (1) wird im Bereich der zu bildenden Umschlagkanten (6) durch Zudosieren einer Flüssigkeit biegeweicher gemacht. Die Flüssigkeit wird streifenförmig auf die Innen- und/oder Aussenseite (9, 10) des Umschlages (1) aufgebracht. Restspannungen im Umschlag (1) im Bereich die Umschlagkanten (6) können wirksamer als bisher vermindert werden. <IMAGE>
