[origin: EP1110874A1] On the base(3) of the closure there is a sealing insert(9) with a ring area(11) which lies against the container edge and has a compression zone(13). The ring area includes one or more radial grooves extending from the central area(19) of the insert to the compression zone. An Independent claim is made for a tool for producing the container closure comprising a punch and a surrounding collar. The punch face facing the base(3) of the closure has a peripheral recess and/or peripheral raised area projection facing the ring area(11) of the sealing insert(9) and an annular groove with ribs to form the radial grooves in the closure.
